Steps to green future

Thika Superhighway!

Steps to green future

There is a school of thought that argues that Thika road is an overdue project. Everyone in the world is calling for reducing smoke or carbon emissions while Kenya is busy constructing roads. Is it? Lest we  forget of the Chinese saying that a journey of a thousand mile begins with a single step. Simple maths. Calculate hours spent in traffic jam, motor vehicle engines running, heat and smoke emitted, one does not need a scientist to proof that carbon emissions are more in such a state compared to less time in traffic.

Green Sun Cities took a tour, and the amazing super highway is shaping up so well as the project approaches its sunset. Long gone will be the memories of the four lane Thika road  as a nightmare for motorists, the notorious matatu drivers, passengers and the private cars. Cities workers, will live to tell to their children stories of horrific encounters with their human resources managers when they could not be on the road by 6:30am. Two hours in traffic was like visiting a dentist for every user of thika road.

Kuddos  to Vision 2030, Kibaki government and Chinese team. As images of the former Museum hill, Pangani, Muthaiga, GSU, Roy Sambu and Githurai roundabouts, are  all framed into albums of our fading memory; Today, residents of Thika superhighway are taking 30minutes to be here in heart of the city. Visitors to this superhighway will not only be puzzled by clear marking, flyover road sections and signage such as Lane to Moyale, Addis Ababa or Exit 9. As of the rest of the users, we bet, make a mistake of missing your exit in the confusion of ten-lane road, and we guarantee,  you will find yourself past your destination if not in Thika or Addis Ababa.

This is a vision achieved and it is Kenya’s teenager steps to green future. Not only do we expect green side walks but also lovely flower gardens on this drive to Addis. We give credit to solar powered street lights on the superhighway. Enjoy our photo gallery of the now not only beautiful but efficient Kenya’s ever first super highway!
